Pallet racking

Pallet racking systems for DFW warehouses

Racking is a capacity decision before it's a purchasing decision. We size frames, beams, and aisles around your actual pallet loads and lift equipment, then quote the complete system — steel, decking, hardware, freight, and install.

Choose a system

Racking types and where each one wins

Selective racking

Every pallet directly accessible. The default for SKU variety and mixed velocity; roughly 100% pick selectivity, lowest cost per position for most operations.

Double-deep racking

Two pallets deep, one aisle. Adds density where you hold two-plus pallets per SKU, but requires a deep-reach truck.

Drive-in racking

Highest density for few SKUs and high pallet counts per SKU — cold storage and beverage are typical. LIFO flow and higher impact risk.

Push-back racking

2–5 deep on carts, LIFO, without driving into the bay. Good density with far less rack damage than drive-in.

Pallet flow

FIFO on gravity rollers for dated stock and high-throughput picking. Highest cost per position; strongest labor savings.

Cantilever racking

Pipe, lumber, steel, sheet goods — anything long that won't sit on pallets. Arm length and capacity drive the design.

These six inputs determine 90% of the design. If you have them, we can usually quote without a site visit; if you don't, we'll walk the building with you.

Common questions

Pallet racking FAQs

How much does pallet racking cost per pallet position?

For standard selective racking, most DFW projects land in the $60–$120 per pallet position range for new steel including wire decking, before freight and installation. Used racking with matching specs often runs 30–50% less. Deep-lane and flow systems cost considerably more per position but store far more in the same footprint.

Do I need permits or engineering for pallet racking in Texas?

Plain storage racks over a threshold height generally require permit review, and jurisdictions in DFW differ on how they apply it. Anything supporting a walkable surface — catwalks, rack-supported mezzanines — needs engineered drawings. We flag which category your project falls into before you order steel.

What lead times should I plan for?

In-stock new roll-formed racking is commonly 1–3 weeks; structural and specialty systems run longer. Used inventory ships fastest when the specs you need are already on the ground. Installation is scheduled after material arrives, typically within a week.

Can you reconfigure racking we already own?

Yes. Reconfiguration, adding beam levels, converting to wire deck, and full teardown and relocation are common projects — often the cheapest way to add pallet positions if your existing frames are sound.
